Hello, my name is Maribel. I am from Hertfordshire; England and I am a PhD student at UCL. I completed my undergraduate degree at Keele University studying Biomedical Science and have recently graduated from Imperial College London with an MSc in Regenerative Medicine. For my master’s project, I developed an in vitro model to assess the therapeutic application of growth factor peptide mimetics to promote neurite outgrowth in adult rat dorsal root ganglia. Beyond my academic studies, I love to play lacrosse, hike, cook and travel.

My MSc and research project sparked my interest into the world of regenerative medicine and peripheral nerve repair. My PhD project focuses on developing an Imaging biomarker to assess quality of muscle reinnervation following nerve injury. My research interest now lies in advanced imaging, computational modelling and its applications to assess, visualise and facilitate nerve repair.
