UCL Students visit Belfast and attend HIRANI conference

CDT students at Ulster University were delighted to host UCL students in Belfast last week for Personal and Public Involvement (PPI) training by the Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) R&D team and to attend the HIRANI Spring tech conference in the Titanic building.

Ulster and UCL PhD researchers attended PPI training covering the importance of PPI in health research and brainstormed ideas, based on their own research projects, as to how to get the public, patients and other stakeholders involved in the design, implementation and dissemination of their research from the start of their projects and throughout. The workshop was really informative and provided a great opportunity to begin to implement PPI into these early stages of their research project design.

The next day we attended the HIRANI Health Tech Spring conference in the impressive Titanic building in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. The event was a great chance to hear from inspirational leaders in Health Tech innovation, funding and implementation across Northern Ireland and beyond and provided great networking opportunities.

Students were also able to enjoy a bit of history and culture going on a Black Taxi tour of the Peace walls and murals of Belfast before enjoying a night out in the City.
